T-Bolts Falter Against Riverdogs, Fall 7-5

After splitting Saturday's doubleheader, the Silver Spring-Takoma T-Bolts (6-10) lost to the Loudoun Riverdogs (3-9) by a final score of 7-5.

Garrett Pearson (0-1, 4.50 ERA) took the loss in relief for the T-Bolts. The VCU Senior pitched two innings after starter Spencer Haroldson's exit, giving up two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out five. Eric Stolt (1-0, 15.88 ERA) earned the win for the Riverdogs as he went two and a third innings without giving up a run or hit, walking three and striking out one.

The Riverdogs were on the board first in the bottom of the second as Jordan Ebersole launched a sacrifice fly to RF to score Clayton Baine. The T-Bolts quickly got that run back in the top of the third as Zach Buck grounded into a double play that scored Nick Atkinson.

The Riverdogs were back with a vengeance in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs. The first came on a double from Collin Watt, and then the very next batter Clayton Baine scored Watt on an RBI single to make the score 3-1 in favor of Loudon.

In the fourth, the T-Bolts offense finally exploded. Jack Roberts sent a ball sky high for a 2-run HR, and then after a Cal Villareal double Turner Davis decided to hit one of his own out of the park for another 2-run blast. 5-3 T-Bolts heading into the bottom of the fourth.

The Riverdgos kept chipping away, scoring a run in their third straight inning as Brady Lloyd sacrificed to score Jordan Ebersole. In the bottom of the fifth, they struck again, scoring on a Collin Casey single and a wild pitch from Garrett Pearson. Riverdogs had the lead back 6-5 heading into the sixth.

Pitching would lock down both offenses for almost the entire remainder of the contest, the lone additional run coming on a Brady Lloyd single for the Riverdogs that increased their lead to 7-5, a score that would hold up for the rest of the contest.

The T-Bolts will look to get back on track against the Big Train on Monday Night at Shirley Povich Field. Game time is 7pm and as always listen live to all of the action at tboltsradio.com.
