Alexandria Aces Use Two Home Runs to Power Past T-Bolts 5-3

The T-Bolts (6-12) extended their losing streak to three games last night as they dropped their duel with the Alexandria Aces (9-7). Wyatt Rush (2-2, 5.17 ERA) got the win in relief for Alexandria. The Lansing Community College freshman went for two innings without giving up a hit, but he did walk five and two unearned runs crossed the plate with him on the mound. For Takoma it was Kieran Garner (1-1, 3.24 ERA) taking the loss. Garner hurled two innings of two-run ball, giving up two hits and a walk while whiffing three. Two very similar final lines with two different results in the win/loss columns, but hey, that's baseball.

The offensive production started in the bottom of the second when the T-Bolts got on the board via a Jack Schroeder double. The VCU sophomore went 1/3 on the night with a run scored and an RBI. The Aces would answer back in the top of the fourth when an errant throw on a pickoff attempt from starting pitcher Cheng-You Chen scored Isiah Thomas.

In the fifth both offenses got going. Alexandria kicked off the party with Michael Stygles sending a ball out of town for a 2-run shot. Then in an inning where Wyatt Rush was having some trouble with his command (four walks), the patient T-Bolts got those two runs right back as both Jack Roberts and Tucker Childers took ball four in bases loaded situations. End of five with the game back even at three apiece.

In the sixth the Aces kept rolling via the long ball as Reid Powers blasted one for another 2-run homer. Both teams combined to allow a stingy three hits in the finally three and a half frames, keeping the opposing offenses silent and ending the game at a score of 5-3.

The T-Bolts will get another chance to end their losing streak tonight when they take on the FCA Braves at Annadale HS. Game will start at 7pm and can be heard live through
