Redbirds Use Offensive Outburst to Down T-Bolts, 18-5

The T-Bolts (7-13) couldn't keep up with the Redbirds (15-6) on Friday night, falling 18-5. Huei-Sheng Lin (1-2, 6.45 ERA) took the loss for the T-Bolts, pitching three and a third innings to the tune of six hits, two walks and four runs while striking out two batters. For the Redbirds Billy Phillips (1-0, 6.42 ERA) took home the win. The University of Maryland sophomore came in relief of starter Justin Campbell and hurled two innings of five-hit, four-run (three earned) ball.

The Redbirds came ready to swing the bat, putting up four runs in the third, five in the fifth, three in the sixth, another five-spot in the seventh, and one in the eighth. The hit barrage was highlighted by Joe Zirolli who blasted two homers and collected four RBIs. Redbird's 2B/SS Kevin Madden also lit up the box score with a 3/5 day, notching three RBIs and two runs while improving his batting average to a stunning .373 on the year.

For the T-Bolts runs were at a premium, but DH Jack Schroeder came through with a three-run triple in the sixth. 2B Hunter Pearre also had a commendable game as he went 2/3 at the plate with a run and an RBI to his name while working two walks.

Next up for the T-Bolts will be an opportunity to right the ship against the Rockville Express. The Express are 8-10 on the year after losing a slug fest to the FCA Braves 15-14. The game will be played at Montgomery College and will start at 7pm. Listen live at tboltsradio.com
