After winning three straight, the T-Bolts (12-17) took a step back in their pursuit of the wild card as they ran into the Rockville Express (12-14). John Stankiewicz (2-0, 1.68 ERA) got the win for Rockville, spinning an absolute gem of a game. The Fordham sophomore hurled seven scoreless, allowing five hits and no walks while striking out a third of the batters he faced (9 Ks in 27 batters). He was simply brilliant. Spencer Haroldson (1-1, 2.90 ERA) also pitched a very respectable game but just couldn't quite keep up with Stankiewicz. The UNCC righty got through six innings and only permitted two runs to cross the plate while surrendering five hits and a walk. Hardoldson send six packing on strike three in his start.
There was little in the name of early offense in this contest. Rockville scored one run on a Dayan Reinoso double, and then Eurick Perez scored on a sacrifice in the sixth.. It was a 2-0 game heading to the eighth inning, but that is where things unraveled for the T-Bolts. A wild pitch scored one with Evan Blum at the plate, and then Blum connected and hit an RBI-single to increase the Express lead to 4-0. The next batter, Charles Kozorosky, reached on an error that scored Jarel McDade. Later that inning a Billy Godrick single scored two to put the lead at 9-0.
The T-Bolts get another go at it when they meet the Baltimore Redbirds at 3:30 on Sunday at Calvert Hall HS. The Redbirds, despite losing their last outing 12-10, have been on a tear as of late. Baltimore has won eight of its last ten games and sits at 21-7 on the year. Tune in to this heated battle on tboltsradio.com
