After a long rain delay, the Takoma T-Bolts finally beat the Rockville Express by a final score of 8-4. If you count the total time between first pitch and the final out the game took 16 days, 23 hours and 47 minutes to complete.
Jaren Zinn (2-1, 5.29 ERA) got the win in relief for the T-Bolts, going four innings giving up only two earned runs (four runs total) on five hits, three walks, and three strikeouts. Conor Larkin (1-2, 5.68 ERA) was saddled with the loss despite going seven innings. The Penn State sophomore allowed three earned (five total) on three hits, five walks, and six punchouts.
The Express scored the first run of the game on a passed ball in the top of the sixth inning. Rockville got three more in the seventh as back-to-back RBI singles and then a sac fly two batters later helped increase the lead to 4-0. The T-Bolts battled back in the bottom of the seventh as Josh Simon singled to left to score Zach Buck and Tucker Childers to bring the game to 4-2.
The T-Bolts offensive explosion happened in the bottom of the eighth, kicked off by an error on a Zach Buck grounder that scored two to tie the game at four apiece. The next batter was Tucker Childers and he knocked a base hit to score Corey Rosier and give Takoma its first lead of the night. Josh Simon was up next and he joined the RBI parade with a single to score Zach Buck. Later in the inning, Hunter Pearre doubled to plate Childers and Simon and put the T-Bolts up 8-4, a score that would carry to the final box.
