After three games on the road, in which they went 1-2, the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts return home to Blair Stadium for a return match with the Gaithersburg Giants. Game time is 7:00 pm. The Tbolts Radio Network will broadcast tonight’s game beginning at 6:55 pm, with Julian Baron on the call.
The starting pitcher for the Tbolts is slated to be Luke Rettig (Sophomore, Lehigh). Luke was the pitcher on Opening Night against the Bethesda Big Train and took the loss. Rettig pitched two innings and gave up five runs on five hits. He walked five and struck out one. He aims to rebound against the Giants.
The Giants pitcher will be Ben Gordon (Sophomore, U. of Kentucky). Gordon will be making his second start of the season. Gordon pitched three innings against the FCA Braves on June 4. He allowed no runs or hits while walking four and striking out six. He did not figure in the decision, a game won by the Giants, 3-1.
Both will loom large on the mound as Rettig stands 6’ 4” and Gordon is 6’9”.
Last night, Giants third baseman Cade Doughty (Freshman, LSU) went 4-4, scored four runs, and had one RBI for the Giants. Right Fielder Jared Johnson (Junior, Coastal Carolina) went 2-3 with four RBI (three came on a home run) and coaxed four walks from Tbolts pitchers.
The Tbolts quartet of Luke Trainer (Junior, Millersville), Daulton Martin (Juniior, Tusculum), Quinn McKenna (Junior, Lehigh), and DaVonn Griffin (Senior, James Madison), each had two hits. Lucas Donlon (Freshman, Virginia Tech) drove in three runs. Dom Ford (Junior, Queens University of Charlotte) and Daulton Martin each stole two bases.
