DaVonn Griffin’s three-run double helped give the T-Bolts a five-run lead last night at Blair.

The Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts, fresh off a 5-0 win over the D.C. Grays, meet the Alexandria Aces at Blair Stadium tonight at 7 pm. Yash Rane (Jr, Lehigh) is 0-0 on the season and will be on the mound for the Bolts to face Jared Lyons (So, George Mason).

Both pitchers started games this season but didn’t figure in the decision. Rane was the starter in the T-Bolts 13-4 victory over the Big Train at Shirley Povich Field last week, and went four innings. He allowed three runs on three hits. Lyons pitched five innings for the Aces in a June 5 game the Aces lost to Gaithersburg, 3-2, but didn’t allow a hit or a walk. One unearned run was all that crossed the plate for the Giants while he was on the mound.

The T-Bolts look to SS Ian McMillan (So, U of Houston), CF DaVonn Griffin (Sr, James Madison), and OF Brady Pearre (So, High Point) continue their hot streaks. McMillan hit a two-run home run in the second inning to stake eventual winner Luke Rettig (So, Lehigh) to a two-run lead he never relinquished. Griffin smacked a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the seventh to drive in three runs and provide the Bolts with a comfortable cushion heading into the late innings. Pearre went 2-4 in the game.

Jake Pecilunas (Jr, Towson) returned to the mound to close out the game for the T-Bolts, pitching two innings and allowing one hit; he struck out two.

The Aces stand at 0-5 and are spoiling for their first win of the season.
