Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts southpaw Luke Rettig (So., Lehigh) was named Pitcher of the Week by the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League for his dazzling performance in a 5-0 T-Bolts win on June 12 against the DC Grays at Blair Stadium.
Over seven innings, Rettig allowed no runs and only three hits, striking out nine, and walking only one. This outing followed a struggle in his first start of the season, throwing just two innings in a loss to the Big Train. According to the League, “No pitcher threw more innings than Rettig during the last week and only three struck out more batters.”
Rettig’s ERA dropped from 22.50 to 5.00 and his opponents’ batting average against him decreased by 200 points. Rettig's performance began what would become a four-game T-Bolts win streak.
Congratulations to Luke Rettig on a well-deserved honor being named the CRCBL Pitcher of the Week.
