The Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts, fresh off an impressive 8-1 over the DC Grays at the Nats Baseball Academy in Washington, continue life on the road with a visit to South County Field in Lorton, Virginia, to take on the FCA Braves in a doubleheader starting at 4:30 pm.
In the first game, the Bolts will send Jake Pecilunas (Jr, Towson) and his 2-0 record to the mound to face Marty Neal (Soph, Harford CC) of the Braves. Pecilunas will make his second start of the season and all three games he has pitched in have resulted in victories for the T-Bolts.
Jake has pitched 11 innings, yielding six runs on 15 hits, striking out 12, and most importantly, only issuing two walks. His ERA is 4.90. His wins came against the Bethesda Big Train at Shirley Povich Field on June 7, a game won by the Bolts, 13-4. His other victory was against the Alexandria Aces, a game the Bolts won, 5-0. In that game, Pecilunas pitched four innings, struck out four and issued no walks.
Marty Neal has pitched one inning on June 23 for the Braves in a 6-1 loss to the DC Grays. In that inning, Neal allowed no runs on no hits, walked two and struck out three. This is his first start of the season.
In the second game, Tyler Dyball (So, U of Hawaii) gets the start for the T-Bolts with a 1-0 record along with one save. He has pitched in nine innings, given up ten hits, walked three, and struck out nine. His win came against the DC Grays in an 11 inning 5-4 Bolts victory. The save came in a Bolts 5-4 win over Gaithersburg on June 16.
John Reynolds, Jr. (Jr, Randolph-Macon) with an 0-0 record will start for the Braves. He has pitched in one game for one inning, allowed no runs on one hit, struck out two and walked none. The Braves lost the game he pitched in, 13-3.
