Two CRCBL Pitchers of the Week Battle in T-Bolts-Giants Tilt at Gaithersburg

The Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts take on the Gaithersburg Giants tonight at Criswell Automotive Field at Kelley Park to wind up a five-game road trip. Game time is 7 pm, broadcast time on the T-Bolts Radio Network is 6:55 pm with Neal Lavon and Nate Kresh on the call. Justin Jaquis will handle social media for the game.

The Bolts are coming off a doubleheader sweep of the FCA Braves at South County Field, winning the first by a 6-5 score in eight innings, and the second 7-4 in nine. Both games were slated for seven innings. Brady Pearre picked up the win in the first game, Brendan Collins earned the victory in the second. Lyle Miller-Greene (Fr, George Mason) hit his first home run of the season in the first game; in the second game, Ryan Roell (Sr, Frostburg State) got his first home run of the season and Tony Gallo (Sr, Lehigh) added his fifth. The Bolts send Luke Rettig (So, Lehigh) to the mound against the Giants scheduled pitcher, Thomas Burbank (So, U of Texas). Rettig is 1-2 on the season in three starts with a 4.50 ERA. He has given up ten runs on 15 hits, walked nine, and struck out 15. He was Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League (CRBCL) Pitcher of the Week last week.

His opponent was named CRBCL Pitcher of the Week for this week. Thomas Burbank is 1-1 on the season with a 5.17 ERA in five games. He has pitched 15.2 innings, yielded 11 runs on 13 hits, walked five and struck out 21.

The Bolts return tomorrow night to play the Bethesda Big Train in a contest between the top two teams in the League. Probable pitchers are, for the Big Train, Michel Becthold (Sr, James Madison) with a 2-0 record against Bryan Gilliam (Sr, UMBC) with a 1-1 record. Game time at Blair Stadium is 7 pm.
