Thunderbolts to Play Gaithersburg Tonight, Weather Permitting

The Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts (2-2) will take on the Gaithersburg Giants (3-1) tonight in Gaithersburg, weather permitting, in a 7 pm tilt. Tanner Jacobson (Sophomore, Queens University of Charlotte) makes his Tbolts debut on the mound. At press time, the Giants have not named their starting pitcher.

To paraphrase the late Ernest L. Thayer, “the outlook isn’t brilliant,” for tonight’s game as rain is forecast in Gaithersburg as well as Takoma Park. Check the Cal Ripken League home page throughout the day for updates on any postponements.

The Bolt are coming off a tough 7-6 loss last night against the surging FCA Braves. The Braves scored four in the bottom of the ninth to earn the win. High points for the Bolts were a strong pitching performance from Bradyn Kail (Sophomore, California University of Pennsylvania; five innings pitched, three runs, three hits, three walks, five strikeouts), a two-run home run from Quinn McKenna (Junior, Lehigh University) and a solo shot from Tony Gallo (Junior, Lehigh University).

The Giants have only lost to the D.C. Grays who are undefeated this season (4-0).
