Bolts-Big Train Resume Game at Blair Wednesday at 7

The Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts will continue Sunday’s suspended game Wednesday evening against the Bethesda Big Train at Blair Stadium. Game time is 7 pm; broadcast time on the T-Bolts Radio Network is 6:55 pm. Julian Baron and Neal Lavon will be on the call.

Justin Jacquis and Clark Boinis will handle in-game production and social media.

The game will resume in the top of the second inning with two out and a 2-2 count on Keith Torres III (Cal St, Sacramento) , the shortstop for Bethesda. Previously in the inning, Drew Hamrock (University of Virginia) homered to left field off Tanner Jacobson (Queens University of Charlotte) , to give the Big Train a 1-0 lead.

Michael Bechtold (James Madison) was on the mound for the Big Train and retired the Bolts in order in the bottom of the first.

Pitchers for the suspended game might not be known until game time.

Both the Big Train (29-6) and the Thunderbolts (19-17) are locked into first and second place respectively and have earned first-round byes in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League playoffs. The third through sixth place teams have yet to be finally sorted, but when they are, the third place team will host the sixth place team, and the fourth place team will host the fifth place team in single-elimination games. Some makeup games may likely be played on Wednesday if they have an impact on the 3-6 sorting.

The T-Bolts will have to wait for both the 3-6 sorting and the play-in games on Thursday to find out who their first round Semi Final Series opponent will be. But the first game in the Semi-Final Series will be played at Blair Stadium on Friday, July 26, at 7 pm. The Bolts will travel to their opponent’s home field on Saturday, July 27, and if necessary, come back to Blair on Sunday at 4 pm for a third and deciding game.

The League Championship Series begins the next day, Monday, July 29, on the field of the team that has the highest remaining seed.

Fortunately, the weather looks good all next week for playoff baseball. We’ll announce exact schedules once we know who is in the Semi Final Series with accompanying field locations and game times. All games will be broadcast on the T-Bolts Radio Network.
