The T-Bolts Radio Network is the official broadcast home of the Silver Spring - Takoma Thunderbolts, a collegiate baseball team based in Silver Spring, MD and part of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League. We broadcast all of the team's regular season games in addition to any and all postseason games. We are committed to providing T-Bolts fans and families with the highest quality radio broadcasts possible to make following the T-Bolts seamless and exciting. We hope you enjoy listening. Meet the Broadcasters
Julian Baron
Julian is a broadcast journalism student at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. He grew up in Baltimore and graduated from Gilman School. During his time at Gilman, he was the president and lead play-by-play commentator of Greyhound TV, the school’s sports broadcasting network. He is also a college lacrosse writer for The Maryland Sports Blog. This is his first year calling games for the T-Bolts. He also runs the team's Twitter account.
Nate Kresh
Nate is entering his fourth season broadcasting games with the T-Bolts. He is a life-long resident of the Washington, D.C. area and currently resides in Arlington, Virginia. He’s a proud alumnus of both The College of William and Mary and The University of Maryland. When he's not calling Thunderbolts games, he's agonizing over the Washington Nationals.
Neal Lavon
Neal began calling games for the Thunderbolts in 2005, and after a three-year absence from the booth, returned in 2012. Neal lives in Takoma Park and retired in 2014 after a four-decade career in radio and television, most notably at the Voice of America. Besides calling the games, he oversees the T-Bolts’ broadcast efforts.
Writing Staff
Jack Jankowski
Jack is an incoming freshman at Butler University. He graduated from McDonogh School, where he served as the play-by-play commentator and PA announcer for football, basketball, and lacrosse games. He is currently a recap writer for the T-Bolts, a content creator for Butler’s Odyssey publication, and a contributor to Corsair’s Publishing, a data analytics blog.
Sam Kulp
Sam is a junior in the Communication Arts Program at Montgomery Blair High School. He grew up and still lives in Silver Spring. Other than writing game recaps for the T-Bolts, Sam writes for the Montgomery Caller and Silver Chips Online. Next year, he will be a part of Montgomery Blair High School's first sports radio station. This is Sam's first year writing for the T-Bolts.
