Our fantastic interns help make T-Bolts baseball possible every season with their diligent work, commitment, and love for the team! Gameday interns handle various duties, including maintaining our field, handling ticket purchases at the gate, operating the stadium audio system, assisting in scorekeeping and scoreboard operation, working in concessions, and much more. If you’re a high school or college student in search of a fun and rewarding internship opportunity, then a summer at Montgomery Blair Stadium as a gameday intern is exactly what you’re looking for! Please note that this position is unpaid.
A. Middle School or High School Age Interns The Thunderbolts are accepting applications for our Middle School-High School Intern Program for June and July 2025. Positions are unpaid, but interns are eligible for Student Service Learning (SSL). Interns will work under the direction of the General Manager and other Board members. There are four (4) internships available. Duties: Interns will be involved in all aspects of team operations and will rotate through assignments such as marketing and publicity; concession stand operations; stadium maintenance; fan liaison services; game-day promotions; souvenir sales; music operation; and fan party management. The interns will have direct responsibility for their assigned area each game and will meet regularly with the General Manager to discuss progress. Eligibility and requirements: any middle or high school student between the ages of 15 and 18 may apply for an intern position. Interns will be required to work from 4:00 – 10:30 p.m. on home game days. There are a total of 18-20 home games during the season over an eight week period, and interns should expect to work at least 10-12 games. Interns are required to attend a half-day training program in early June. The league season runs from June 2 – July 31. B. College Age Interns: The Thunderbolts have four (4) vacancies for June and July, 2025 in their Sports Management Intern program. The positions are unpaid, but interns are eligible for community service hours or college work/study credit. Interns will work under the direction of the General Manager and other board members. Duties: Interns will be involved in all aspects of team operations and will rotate through assignments such as marketing/publicity; food service and concessions; stadium maintenance; fan liaison services; game-day promotions; fan party management and general fan service. The interns will have direct responsibility for their assigned area each game and will meet regularly with the General Manager to discuss progress. Eligibility and requirements: Positions are open to any college students between the age of 18 and 22. Interns will be required to work from 4:00 – 11:00 p.m. on home game days (usually 3-4 days per week). There are a total of 18-20 home games during the season over an 8 week period. Interns are required to attend a half-day training program in early June. The league season runs from June 2 – July 31. C. Field Operations Interns: The Thunderbolts have two (2) intern positions on their field support crew. The positions are unpaid, but interns are eligible for community service hours or college work/study credit. Interns will work under the direction of the General Manager and other board members. Duties: Interns will be responsible for preparation of the field prior to each game. Work includes lining, dragging infield, preparation of field boxes, watering infield, and setup and take down equipment for batting practice. Interns will work from 4:00 - 7:30 pm on home game days (usually 3-4 days per week). There are a total of 18-20 home games during the season over an 8 week period. Interns are required to attend a half-day training program in early June. The league season runs from June 2 – July 31.
Bat Boy/Bat Girl Positions
We will have four (4) bat boy/bat girl positions this season. Bat boy/bat girls will work in teams of two each game from 6 pm to end of game. Positions are open for students age 10-13 years of age. The league season runs from June 2- July 31.
